Vinod Rai, the head of the BCCI committee of Administrators CoA, on Thursday confirmed that Rajeev Shukla will continue to serve as the chairman of IPL governing council. KL Rahul ruled out of IPL 2017 with shoulder injury.
Vinod’s statement came in the wake of speculations regarding the position of the IPL chairman and whether there will be a new chairman.
Earlier, the CoA had barred Board of Control for Cricket in India BCCI officials from attending the IPL players auction which included Rajeev Shukla. India-Australia series got same attention as the ashes: Stokes to India Today.
However, the former board vice-president, who was re-appointed as the chairman of the powerful Governing Council in 2015, did make his presence felt and even addressed the IPL franchisee owners in the event held in Bengaluru. It should be noted that the Supreme Court had appointed a new four-members BCCI panel of administratos led by Vinod Rai, along with noted historian Ramachandra Guha, managing director of IDFC limited Vikram Limaye and former captain of the Women’s Cricket Team, Diana Edulji as other administrators.
They are Functioning as the new interim bosses of the BCCI and run the day to day administration of BCCI till the justice retd. RM Lodha- led recommendations are fully implemented and elections are held.
